Robin Givens The Art of Acting For Life
Robin Givens The Art of Acting For Life, Actress Robin Givens wakes up extra early to call the WWJ Newsroom. She’s in Los Angeles, preparing to embark on a rather unique tour that’ll bring her — and her family — to Detroit for several weeks next month.
Givens has chosen Detroit to launch a series of workshops aimed at helping aspiring actors develop their craft, as well as others who may be struggling with confidence and self-esteem issues.

“Everybody wants things right now, but in terms of being the best that we can be, it’s something that we have to wake up and do everyday,” said Givens. With a career that has taken her from the small screen to the silver screen — and even Broadway — she knows what it takes to have a successful career in show business. And, she’s seen countless others who want to follow in her footsteps. “But, have sort of dismissed the importance of acting as a craft,” Givens added. “Cicely Tyson was always sort of my mom in the business, and that’s all she ever said to me is you have to study, you have to study, you have to study.”

Now, Givens is passing on what she’s learned during a series of workshops she’s launching in Detroit. The workshops are called “The Art of Acting for Life.” The workshops, designed for both children and adults, will be held July 11-15 and July 18-22.

Givens will also be in town for a special meet-and-greet with metro Detroiters on July 9. “An Evening with Robin Givens” also features Composer Pianist Ozie C. Cargile II, who penned “Song for Humanity” for Givens and her website, The Forever Journey.
