Drug seller accidentally texts deputy
Drug seller accidentally texts deputy, A suspected drug dealer accidentally turned himself in to authorities by text message. Authorities say the 25-year-old Porter, Texas resident and his mom are now in custody.According to the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, Travis Huffman was trying to set up a drug deal by text message when he accidentally sent the details of the meet-up to a constable. The constable responded to the message and agreed to meet on Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a business in Porter.
Undercover officers were then able to purchase prescription drugs from Huffman, who apparently set up shop inside his vehicle.
The constable’s office says if the accidental text message was bad luck, then what happened next was just “poor judgment.”
Officers went to the suspect’s home where Huffman’s mother, 43-year-old Kimberly Meadows, was found to be in possession of marijuana.
While the mom was being taken into custody, she told officers she gave her son the prescription drugs so he could sell them. Huffman even confirmed his mom’s statement, according to officials.
Both are now charged with ‘delivery of a controlled substance,’ which is a state jail felony.
The constable’s office says while the details behind this case may be “comical,” it was “important to remember the real issue was that this family was actively contributing to the illegal drug problem in East County, which is no laughing matter.”
Porter is located about 30 miles northeast of Houston in Montgomery County.
